Adolf Hitler
– The years in which madness darkened the world –
“Those who hate most fervently must have once loved deeply; those who want to deny the world must have once embraced what they now set on fire”.
Adolf Hitler “The Fuhrer” was a man of talents. “He was a charismatic, Austrian-born demagogue, who rose to power in Germany during the 1920s andearly 1930s at a time of social, political, and economic upheaval” 1) He had a talent for oratory, he was a brave soldier and he knew the desire of the German people to recover a place of honor among the countries of the world. His talent was obscured, however, by his fanatism which at the end transformed him into a madman responsible for the biggest war (World War II) the world had known and forthe murder of millions of people of one race (The Jews) that in his mind was responsible for all evils. Hitler said Jews “were not a race, but an anti-race” 2) who “had no culture of their own, but perverted existing cultures such as Germany’s with their parasitism” 3)
At the end of this war, blood, tears, screams, cries and shooting was all you heard and death was a friendly face. Bynow World War II was lost for everyone, not for one religious group not for one country but for the whole globe and the man behind it Adolf Hitler, the man responsible for over 70 million deaths was a monster or was he a nice gentleman as his lover Eva Braun described him? In these paragraphs, I will try to figure out a murderer, a crazy man, a leader and a cold hearted ruler. He killed 6 millionof Jews, he leaded his nation into what he believed, the supremacy of the pure race, and for the Jews, he burned them, shoot them, took away everything from, but was he all evil or did madness took over him?
“His father was a customs official. Hitler left school at 16 with no qualifications and struggled to make a living as a painter in Vienna.4)”. Like many Germans Hitler washumiliated because his country lost World War I and was treated badly by the winners. Hitler himself was a soldier during this war and He “narrowly escaped death in battle several times, and was eventually awarded two Iron Crosses for bravery” 5). He believed that he was destined to make Germany a powerful nation again. He was a very good speaker and this talent made him a leader that wanted toseize power. He failed and went to Jail for five years of which he served nine months. While in prison, he wrote the first volume of Mein Kampf “My Struggle” 6). He was at that moment a failure, and in his book he began to talk about hate for the communists and for the Jews. They were guilty of all evils of Germany. They were the ones poisoning the soul of the Germans. In 1930 Hitler’s Nazi partycaptured 18% of the popular vote. In 1932, Hitler ran for President and won 30% of the vote, forcing the eventual victor, Paul von Hindenburg, into a runoff election. A political deal was made to make Hitler chancellor in exchange for his political support 7). Hitler finally took power in 1933. His mind was set up, the not very good painter, the ugly nervous man with great capacity for oratory andfor politics had found his destiny. He had found destiny through hate. He had a goal, but his goal was evil.
Once in Power “Hitler went to invade Austria, he said he had liberated that country”. He did not try to hide his intentions to conquer the world. He wanted to invade Russia and became a close friend of another dictator Mussolini of Italy. When France and Great Britain declaredwar to Hitler, he quickly invaded France and had Britain almost in his hands. He was very powerful. Then things got complicated and at the end, when he felt that things were lost, he suspected of everyone. His hate for the Jews grew and he came with the “final solution” what was this solution? To kill them all. The leader and once powerful man who was a brave soldier in World War I, was now lost…
